  • Implant system and methods of use

    Patent number: 12144742

Abstract: An implant system comprising a staple and a cage is disclosed. The implant system is secured to the bone by moving the staple rotationally and longitudinally whereby tines of the staple and opposing tines frictionally and mechanically engage or embed themselves in the bone side walls. For vertebral applications, the cage defines an upper surface plane, a lower surface plane and a cage surface angle between these two planes whereby the cage surface angle may alter an endplate surface plane of one or more vertebral body when the cage is implanted in a vertebral body. Implant systems may be configured for use as an interbody or intrabody implant system. The implant system may also be configured for use in arthrodesis procedures with other joints within the body. The implant system may further comprise an anchor frame or plate to further secure the cage and staple to the anatomy.

  • Intervertebral implant

    Patent number: 12144743

Abstract: A bi-directional fixating transvertebral (BDFT) screw/cage apparatus is provided. The BDFT apparatus includes an intervertebral cage including a plurality of internal angled screw guides, a plurality of screw members, and a novel screw locking mechanism which consists of leaf springs which mechanically interact with BDFT screws which have ratcheted screw heads. The small leaf springs allow the ratchet teeth of the screw heads to rotate only in the penetrating direction. Due to the geometric orientation of the ratchet teeth vis-a-vis the adjacent spring leaf, rotation of the screw head in the opposite direction is prevented by the insertion of the string leaf in the space between the ratchet teeth (trough) of its final rotation. The uni-rotational interaction between the screw head-ratchet teeth/troughs and adjacent leaf spring is the mechanical basis for this novel locking mechanism.

  • Spasticity assessment and rehabilitation support system for stroke patients using characteristic vector analysis

    Patent number: 12144774

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for assessing and rehabilitating spasticity in stroke patients, utilizing a novel approach that combines EMG signal analysis with kinematic data of wrist movements. The system comprises a set of electrodes for capturing EMG signals from key wrist muscles, a motion tracking module for monitoring wrist joint movements, and a processing unit for calculating and normalizing wrist joint torque. A distinctive feature is computation of a characteristic vector, indicative of the spasticity state, derived from the moment arms of the involved muscles. The system includes a motorized wrist system, designed to assist wrist movements in a direction countering the spasticity-induced pull, guided by the characteristic vector. This approach allows for personalized rehabilitation, adapting to the patient's specific muscular imbalances.

  • System and method for dynamic device discovery and address assignment

    Patent number: 12144780

Abstract: A pool or spa system includes networked pool or spa devices that can be dynamically configured with network addresses by a controller. The controller can transmit a device discovery request on a network and can receive a discovery response from pool or spa devices that require a network address. The system determines and assigns the network addresses for the pool or spa devices based on unique device identifiers associated with the responding pool or spa devices. The network addresses assigned to the pool or spa device are transmitted to the pool or spa device to be used by the pool or spa devices to communicate with the controller over the network. The system can be used to discover and assign addresses to various types of pool or spa devices, such as pumps, underwater lights, chlorinators, water feature controllers, remote controllers, and/or other types of devices.
